Certain State of Mind
How much can you read from a person’s face and their body language, and is this an accurate representation of that person? Was the captured moment manipulated or augmented? For my thesis, The Relationship Between Photography and Psychiatry (2017), I wrote about multiple subjects surrounding this matter. What fascinates me is that both the emotional and the psyche have an impact on the body. Furthermore this impact can have both visible and invisible repercussions.
The series includes portraits shot from a concept and that have later been modified. Archival materials mix with new images. Different analogue adaptations (scanning and reprinting images) create a new translation of the former image.
